LO5 - Omitted exhibition

The name 'omitted' for my exhibition, is from the idea of the modern world taking away its roots, for example sheffield taking away many steel works and shutting them down, this exhibition is showing the roots of sheffield and how it came about before the modern world.

Steel Hubs

This photograph would be displayed in a row of five, in the size A2 along a plain white wall, ranging from darkest to lightest photograph. This will be displayed on a canvas. This photograph is depicting the interior of the building which relates to the previous identity of sheffield before many steel works where shut down, as sheffield is the 'steel' city. i used these particular photos as they are very strictly sound and used the steel from steel works in the city to be constructed. this photo would be displayed in its own shape, landscape and no alterations would be made as it shows how non uniform the steel industry was. the costing for this would be £18.00 for a print on A2 light canvas.

This image may not be created out of steel to the eye, but initially the base of the buildings, the 'skeleton', the steel girders, and parts in the foundations. LO3/4 - Adobe Bridge

For my photographs i used Adobe Bridge, i used the software to arrange my photographs, mark them from 1-5 with a star rating which helped me choose which photographs where the best and which where unusable. The advantage of this software is that it analysis your photograph and presents the information from the camera used which was the Cannon 650D. The lens i used for this photograph was a standard kit lens as this photo needed no specialist kit. For this photograph I used an aperture of 11, which is quite a small aperture. this is because i needed to increase the depth of field to make sure more of the photograph was in focus, and also to catch the optimum degree of fine detail, so a small aperture is better for landscape shots. the shutter speed i used was 1/250th which helped freeze any motion that was in the photograph that i captured. and then i used an ISO of 100 which is the base ISO and i used this because there was plenty of light in the scene. this photograph is landscape and i used this technique to make the shot more interesting as if i used a portrait i would be able to fit in all the aspects of this photograph. Also this photograph applies to the rule of thirds, as the buildings are in each of the three vertical sections. In Adobe Photoshop the idea i have for this photograph is to combine previous photographs from Magna into this photograph to create a meaningful image about the historic steel industry in Sheffield.

The lens i used for this photograph was a standard kit lens as this photo needed no specialist kit. For this Photograph i used an aperture of 6.3, this is meaning that i had a reasonably large aperture which helped let more light into the camera as the area is quite dark and this is needed to focus the whole photograph as the points needed to be in focus are quite a distance away from where i was taking the photograph. i used a shutter speed of 1/160th, which helped my freeze the image so that all the motion was still and the decorations and trees are in focus and not blurred. the ISO was set at 200 which is the base ISO. this was used because i was using natural and artificial and the base ISO was useable. This photograph taken in portrait orientation which enabled me to chose to photograph a certain section and not the whole area. this photograph is also shot with half background and half foreground to make this shot more appealing. in Adobe Photoshop my idea is to place an image from magna onto the building.

The lens i used for this photograph was a standard kit lens as this photo needed no specialist kit. the aperture for this photograph is 10.0 i used this because i needed to focus the area a reasonable distance away from the point that i captured the photograph. the shutter speed for this photograph was 1/250th, this was because i needed to 'freeze' the fountains in the photograph so that they are not blurred. the ISO was 100 and this is the base ISO, and this is because i needed the image to be sharp and not grainy. this photograph uses perspective as it has leading lines leading towards the fountains. my idea for editing this photograph in Adobe Photoshop is to edit in another previous photograph from magna onto the building and then change the saturation so that it creates a black and white effect on the surroundings.

The lens i used for this photograph was a standard kit lens as this photo needed no specialist kit. the aperture i used for this photograph is 8.0 and this is because it would not be over exposed and i needed the area reasonably far away from where i took the photograph focused. the shutter speed for this was 1/200 and i used this speed because i wanted to freeze any sort of motion in the photographs. the ISO was 100 and this is the base ISO. my idea for editing this photograph in Adobe Photoshop is to edit in another previous photograph from magna onto the building and then change the saturation so that it creates a black and white effect on the surroundings.
